The position is responsible for reviewing and updating quality processes and implementing changes to the quality processes as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:

Special testing of product including, but not limited to, IEEE testing, electrical capacity testing, cell physical requirements testing, and dimensional analysis
Initiate new projects in response to action items identified by audits, customer complaints, or other requests
Interface with customers during customer requested witnessing of testing
Work with plant and corporate process and product engineering as needed
Training of Quality Assurance (QA) Tech(s) and QA Engineer(s) in lab testing methods as required
Collect and present data in a consistent and orderly manner
Help to institute, revise, and update plant documents as necessary
Work with Lab Tech, ISO Coordinator, and QA Techs as needed to complete work assignments or projects
Work on other assignments that may be made by QA Manager
Regular attendance and timeliness is required in order to give sufficient support to the plant-wide team
While performing the duties of this job the individual is occasionally required to vary their schedules times and shifts
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality technology or equivalent (or Associate’s degree in quality technology plus minimum 5 years industrial experience)
Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience
Proficiency in computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
A broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics, electrical and mechanical engineering principles, as well as statistical process control
Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques and documentation
Understanding of the manufacturing environment, workflow, including planning activities
Understand ISO 9001 and 14001 quality policies
Experience working in a union manufacturing plant
Battery manufacturing experience
Gauge calibration experience
Effectively communicate with co-workers and management. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to create and present project presentation to corporate level personnel. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical skills consistent with a college degree in engineering or science
Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions on ways to remedy the problem. Ability to learn basic electrochemical process with the battery and what affects that process. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Individual is occasionally required to lift up to 40 1bs. Required to work around corrosive and caustic lab chemicals. Regular use of safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and gloves required. Occasional use of a respirator as required by department.

Noise level is minimal to loud
Regularly is working in a dirty lead contaminated area and must wear a uniform and safety shoes in that area to prevent the tracking and / or possible lead contamination of other clean areas or outside or the regulated areas
Travel maybe required occasionally
