Job Description

Job Summary:  The Complex Safety Manager ensures a safe working environment and maintains regulatory compliance for the complex.

Essential Functions:  The Complex Safety Manager manages the organizational safety process for the complex to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment; plans and delivers programs to train manager and associates in the safety practices of the workplace; inspect complex facilities, detects existing or potential hazards, and assists in corrective measures and follow-up to ensure completion; oversees accident investigation to determine root cause and ensure that corrective action is implemented; and maintains all documentation for regulatory compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:  The Complex Safety Manager conducts inspections of the plant and coordinates the Ergonomic Steering meeting, Safety Steering Team, VPP program, and Worker’s Compensation insurance.  Also involved in environmental compliance.  Is the primary contact for any OSHA issues.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:  The Complex Safety Manager should have a solid background in OSHA standards, PSM Compliance and regulations, and Worker’s Compensation laws.  The Complex Safety manager should have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as computer proficiency.  Strong analytical skills, problem solving and root cause analysis.  Needs to be a good trainer.  Must be proactive and results driven with a team-based approach.

Education and Experience:  Bachelor degree, 3-5 years of experience in relevant field.

Working Conditions:  Usual office conditions with some exposure to undesirable elements.  Cold temperatures in the plant.
