POSITIONSUMMARY:
A Medical OverflowUnit Registered Nurse (RN) renders individualized comprehensive nursing care tomeet patients' physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural andeducational needs.  The Medical OverflowUnit  RN provides the best possiblepreventative, supportive, and  nursingcare to each patient based upon the nursing process and in accordance withhospital policy and procedure; coordinates functions with physicians and otherdepartments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive workingrelationships.  The Medical OverflowUnit  RN works collaboratively withSocial Service and Pastoral care to support and provide families emotional andend of life resources such as Hospice to facilitate a dignified end.

Job Requirements

LICENSE REQUIRED:  Registered Nurse – State of Alaska
CERTIFICATIONS:  BLS Required
                         
EDUCATION:
 
q  Less than high school
q  High school or GED
q  Vocational/Technical
þ  2year/Associate Degree
q  4 year/Bachelor Degree
q  Post Graduate Degree
þ  Knowledge of Stateof
     Alaska law, Nurse Practice Act,
     Federal/CMS regulations and  
     Joint Commission standards
þ  Knowledge of specialty
     equipment and tools:
 
EXPERIENCE:
   
þ  Medical/Oncology nursing
      experience preferred
þ  Chemotherapy Certification
      preferred
