The Foster Care Peer Support Specialist is responsible for using trauma - informed evidence - based approaches with members and caregivers in the foster care program. These members are children in the care and custody of the state through the Children’s Division or Division of Youth Services, members who have been adopted through the Children’s Division system, or members who have transitioned out of the Children’s Division system and still receive benefits. The Foster Care Peer Support Specialist will focus on assisting members and caregivers with developing plans and skills to increase stability in the home and for transitional age and young adult members, working on developing skills that will assist them with successful transition, life, and independence in the adult world.
