Control Room Operator, working under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for remotely monitoring and controlling plant equipment and systems from the central control room, on a continuous basis.  This position will respond to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions, execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures, coordinate operators throughout the plant, log operating activities, record pertinent data and assure that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner. The Control Room Operator must report equipment malfunctions or trends which indicate possible trouble and take appropriate action to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations, without first-hand supervision or direction.  Must walk the plant down and inspect the fires throughout the shift to insure proper combustion.

Position Requirements

The position of Control Room Operator requires individuals having at least five (5) years’ experience,

or equivalent, in the hands-on operation of high pressure boilers and/or electric generating equipment.
A High School education and/or formal technical or utility training is required.
Must have or able to obtain ASME QRO provisional certificate within 6 months.
