Summary Statement:

Under general supervision, responsible for the daily cleaning of floors and other periodic cleaning. All work to be done in accordance with the standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with the community’s objectives. Will use cleaning equipment including 20" rotos, high speed burnishers, automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, 24 oz. wet mops and other types of floor machines, large wringers and other necessary equipment, tools, products and supplies. 

Essential Job Functions

• Performs daily cleaning of hard surface floors and carpeted floors in corridors and in other assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods as outlined on work schedules.
• Removes trash, recycling and linens from assigned areas and transports it to designated area. 
• Performs project cleaning of walls, lights, induction units, windows, etc.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills that are observed or requested.
• Maintains assigned equipment in clean and safe working order.
• Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
• Reports to each fire drill and/or any actual fire to assist in transporting residents.
• Performs any other related tasks which may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Critical Skills and Knowledge Necessary

• Mechanical aptitude to detect any equipment malfunctions which could present a threat to the safety of oneself or others 
• Ability to follow instructions independently

The critical skills and knowledge required to successfully perform the functions of the position are normally obtained thru the completion of a high school education and 30-90 days essential job experience is preferred. On the job training of ..................will be required to learn [example: the specific computer programs and company procedures].

Physical Demands 

• Pre-employment physical required including a satisfactory statement of physical ability to lift, walk, stand, push, pull, climb, bend, reach and twist
• Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, with frequent lifting and carrying of 25 to 50 pounds
• Walking constantly, with frequent standing 
• Pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Climbing stairs and ladders occasionally
• Bending, squatting, and kneeling frequently
• Reaching frequently from below knees to above shoulders
• Handling constantly, including simple grasping and wrist twisting
• Twisting upper torso frequently
• Near visual acuity

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to weather occasionally, with wet and/or humid conditions
• Exposure to vibrations, fumes, dusts and odors occasionally
• Hazards – electrical shock, chemicals, and wet floors
