Safety Manager

Our client, an industry leader with headquarters in Greensboro NC, has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager.

The Safety Manager will be responsible for the management, administration and coordination of all company wide compliance activities and programs with primary focus on job site field safety. Will provide technical and regulatory guidance, ensuring consistent regulatory compliance and utilization of best industry practices to manage the fleet, safety and compliance as well as establish strategies for risk management and conduct internal safety audit programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote, update and implement company safety programs, policies and initiatives.
  • Understand OSHA and DOT regulations to ensure compliance.
  • OSHA, DOT and MSHA training, record keeping and reporting.
  • Spend majority of time in the field, specifically on job sites with field personnel.
  • Train, educate, monitor and manage safety guidelines, performance and compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure employees are performing their functions safely and productively. Evaluate practices and procedures and make recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accident or injuries. Reports problems to management.
  • Establish target areas and long range accident prevention.
  • Oversight of driver and equipment safety.
  • Safety inspections and investigations.
  • Update safety programs and training content.
  • Investigate accidents to discover cause, recommend solutions and prevention measures.
  • Deal with government agencies on safety and health matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer.
  • Minimum of 4 years of successful, related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of state worker's compensation laws.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Effective communicator with senior level management, as well as field level employees.
  • Organizational and motivational skills.
  • Attention to detail and observation abilities.
  • Ability to produce reports and develop policies.
