We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Medical Officer position that will be based in our Florida Hospital Physician Group department. This position is based in Tampa, FL.
This position provides the opportunity to supervise, guide and manage the clinical performance of all physicians that Florida Hospital Physician Group (FHPG) employs to provide inpatient and outpatient medical services for Regional Hospitals. As CMO, Physician will perform principal duties and functions outlined below. 
Specific job duties include:
  • Communicate with the President, Operating Council, and others as needed, on administrative, clinical, and issues pertaining to FHPG;
  • Establish and maintain courteous, tactful and professional interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with colleagues and populations served by FHPG and Regional Hospitals;
  • Develop and recommend standard clinical quality metrics and measures for primary care and specialty practices and initiatives at Regional Hospitals;
  • Assist the FHPG VP of Operations and Regional Hospital CMOs in implementation of quality metrics and measures approved by the Regional Hospitals for the outpatient medical practices owned by the Regional Hospitals;
  • Promote the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ and hold Physicians and clinical staff to provide compassionate patient care consistent with the mission of Adventist Health System;
  • Be an active participant in the efforts to recruit Physicians that will support the mission, vision and values of FHPG and Adventist Health System;
  • Promote and monitor Physician compliance with patient satisfaction metrics and additional quality measures;
  • Define and develop standards for new Physician orientation and assist in ongoing Physician development;
  • Recommend possible enhancements for the electronic medical records system;
  • Develop, promote and assist in enforcing company and Regional Hospital policies, procedures and programs to ensure best patient care standards and efficient use of resources, including supplies and personnel;
  • Promote collegiality and cooperation among Regional Hospital medical staff members, administration and Physicians;
  • Promote and enforce Regional Hospital approved specialty and primary care clinical programs and initiatives;
  • Assist FHPG, Regional Hospitals, Regional Corporate Compliance Officers, and Regional Medical Directors in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations, including but not limited to, The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Stark Law, and the Anti-Kickback Statute and the requirements of Joint Commission.
  • Coordinate management and care initiatives for the practices;
  • Attend and participate in meetings and committees as assigned;
  • Conforms to FHPG and Adventist Health System and departmental policies and procedures;

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills; able to report and convey required information; maintain a level of confidentiality; show initiative; use proper judgement in all situations; consults with and/or advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring follow-up or attention
  • Leadership roles within a physician group or hospital medical staff

Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Medicine from an accredited school
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Current Medical License in the State of Florida
