We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist position that will be based in our Communications department. This position is based at our corporate office in Altamonte Springs, FL.  
This position provides the opportunity to be responsible for a wide variety of communication needs including writing, editing, data analysis, and coordinating and updating communication collaterals for major corporate initiatives and client requests. This position will help to foster and improve messaging and communication for these initiatives while maintaining positive relationships and engaging effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.  The person will also be an active member at Communication Department events. This role will support the efforts of the Communications Manager and the Stakeholder Engagement team.
Specific job duties include:
  • Works the required 40 hours per week, performs work responsibilities during work hours and keeps time out of office during work hours to a minimum. Notifies supervisor of PDO requests in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the department’s services, articulates understanding of specific capabilities of the department and of other services; actively communicates relevant information to department team members in a timely manner and abides by AHS corporate policies and procedures.
  • Represents the department and company positively in appearance, conduct and demeanor; assesses own level of skill in speaking and listening; seeks to improve these areas while demonstrating maturity and self-confidence in interactions with clients and team members in daily activities.
  • Dresses in business attire during office hours in accordance with general office guidelines as reflected in employee handbook. 
  • Demonstrates competency in required job skills and exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills.  Gathers and analyzes information skillfully and resolves problems in early stages with minimal supervision          
  • Demonstrates understanding and value of teamwork. Offers assistance and support to team members. Demonstrates sensitivity inherent to diversity of people       
  • Completes tasks in a proactive manner, actively seeking ways to produce high quality, efficient work.  Responds promptly to assignments and tasks as requested and keeps commitments to deadlines          
  • Demonstrates ability to balance team and individual responsibilities along with personal and professional demands        
  • Displays original thinking, seeks increased responsibilities, displays willingness to make sound and accurate decisions        
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, sets challenging goals and schedules other team members assistance realistically
  • Contribute to creation of strategic communication plan and implement tasks directly related to the project, monitoring upcoming project deadlines for consistent delivery
  • Works closely with supervisor to support their communication requests 
  • Writes and supports creation of project news and information
  • Creates materials to advance internal initiatives while following AHS graphic standards and policies, keeping key messages consistent and standardized
  • Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, adapts writing style to meet need
  • Effectively participates in Stakeholder Assessments, provides analysis of qualitative data and carries out tasks associated with strategic action planning while aligning facility readiness plan to specific culture/need
  • Execute communication audit for each facility; contribute to approach and timeline for utilizing communication partners
  • Coordinates distribution of communication toolkits to all Adventist Health System entities
  • Utilize, maintain and update electronic communication channels in a timely and proactive manner and address feedback received
  • Develop on-site materials as needed, monitoring execution and distribution to ensure accuracy and delivery to end-users
  • Guides and directs assigned facility communication champions on communication efforts
  • Supports various projects during go-live time periods and provides on-site go-live support
  • Develop post implementation communication and mitigation strategies related to mass audience changes.
  • Gathers and analyzes relevant data, organizing in a clear and comprehensive manner. Comfortable with analysis process of both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Assists with various corporate events as deemed necessary
  • Performs special assignments as requested by supervisor
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum two-year experience in writing in a technical, healthcare or business environment.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Organizational Readiness, Business or related field.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Strong writing and editorial skills required.
  • Strong process understanding, organizational skills and critical thinking abilities
  • Graphic design skills such as InDesign and Photoshop as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and the Internet. 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), flexibility and adaptability to change a must. 
  • Capacity to learn quickly and adapt to changing responsibilities within project oriented environment
Travel:
  • Moderate travel required.
