We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist position that will be based in our Communications department. This position is based at our corporate office in Altamonte Springs, FL.  
This position provides the opportunity to be responsible for a wide variety of communication needs including the development of communication plans and materials for new and existing programs, technologies and software and coordinating communication projects for clients. The person will also be an active member at Communication Department events.
Specific job duties include:
  • Works the required 40 hours per week, performs work responsibilities during work hours and keeps time out of office during work hours to a minimum. Notifies supervisor of PDO requests in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the department’s services, articulates understanding of specific capabilities of the department and of other services; actively communicates relevant information to department team members in a timely manner and abides by AHS corporate policies and procedures.
  • Represents the department and company positively in appearance, conduct and demeanor; assesses own level of skill in speaking and listening; seeks to improve these areas while demonstrating maturity and self-confidence in interactions with clients and team members in daily activities.
  • Dresses in business attire during office hours in accordance with general office guidelines as reflected in employee handbook.
  • Demonstrates competency in required job skills and exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills.  Gathers and analyzes information skillfully and resolves problems in early stages with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates understanding and value of teamwork. Offers assistance and support to team members. Demonstrates sensitivity inherent to diversity of people
  • Completes tasks in a proactive manner actively seeking ways to produce high quality, efficient work.  Responds promptly to assignments and tasks as requested and keeps commitments to deadlines  
  • Demonstrates ability to balance team and individual responsibilities along with personal and professional demands
  • Displays original thinking, seeks increased responsibilities, displays willingness to make sound and accurate decisions 
  • Proactively communicates anticipated issues or problems with supervisor
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, sets challenging goals and schedules other team members assistance realistically
  • Assists with development of communication plans and materials for new and existing programs, processes, technologies and software
  • Writes and develops material for communication plans including key messages, FAQs, emails, letters, scripts, presentations, surveys and collateral
  • Writes clearly and accurately, edits work for spelling and grammar, adapts writing style to meet need 
  • Creates toolkits and communication material aligned with brand standards in support of projects and initiatives  
  • Compiles and analyzes data and research to inform communication plans
  • Interacts with the field to give and receive information related to the execution of communication plans. Incorporates feedback, answers questions, and gathers and promotes best practices
  • Develops, communicates and coordinates project requirements and timelines with supervisor and team members to ensure proper project completion and on-time delivery
  • Identifies risks and resolves issues with team and supervisor before client interaction 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with clients and field to effectively integrate communication strategies  
  • Provides communication resources to the field in support of corporate initiatives
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum two years experience in writing in a healthcare or business environment
Educational Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree in public relations, journalism or communications with specialized courses in graphic and web design, and social media.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Strong writing and editorial skills required. 
  • Graphic design skills such as InDesign and Photoshop as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and web design.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written),flexibility and adaptability to change a must.
