The Enterprise Architect is accountable for the completeness and integrity of the enterprise architecture and alignment between the business and IT strategy.  The Enterprise Architect establishes and maintains a high level of business engagement in order to instill confidence in delivery and co-operation between IT, end users and business management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


•         Demonstrates, through behavior, Adventist Health System’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork


•         Supports strategy, governance and planning.


•         Leads the development and communication of an IT strategy and technology plan for the next 3 years that is bought into by the business and is coordinated with other Architects.


•         Establishes a comprehensive IT governance structure and processes, including the chartering of governance bodies (including Design Authority), meeting schedules and agendas, and preparation and collation of material for review and decision at the Investment Board. Support the definition of the critical IT governance rules i.e. technology principles/standards, investment prioritization, funding.


•         Develops Adventist Health System enterprise architecture.


•         Develops and maintains the baseline current and target state enterprise architecture (made up of application, technology infrastructure, integration, data and security architectures). 


•         Ensures the completeness and integrity of the enterprise architecture by making sure all of the various components are integrated and reconciling any conflicting concerns of different stakeholders.


•         Sets standards.


•         Leads the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of technology across the organization.


•         Defines the tool set to be used by the Architecture team.


•         Provides insight and manages risk.


•         Identifies the IT and Business risks in architectural decisions and roadmaps.


•         Keeps abreast with developments in the IT industry and healthcare market space to ensure that the architectures are kept in line with industry standard.


•         Ensures that investments are made which best support the requirements of Florida Hospital.


•         Works with external suppliers to ensure that the appropriate technology direction is set with respect to applications, infrastructure, data, security and integration.


•         Keeps current on industry trends.


•         Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the MIS department and in order to comply with Florida Hospital policy and procedures.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


•         Ability to demonstrate systems thinking.


•         Knowledge of Healthcare operations, Finance and Budget, Information Technology, and Process Improvement and Change Management Techniques, Healthcare Organizational best practice, ITIL or other IT best practice.


•         Demonstrable experience in IT industry standards, services, design, architecture principles design, architecture views and viewpoint design, building block design, solutions modelling and systems behavior.


•         Good experience of IT Architecture (and underlying frameworks such as TOGAF and SOA) including the development (and ensuring adherence to) architecture principles and standards.


•         Knowledge of relevant technologies including web applications, portals, messaging and integration, desktop/server/storage/application platforms, network infrastructure, security technologies, etc.


•         Proficient in methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of non-functional requirements, technical documents, test plans, business cases and other key deliverables

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:


•         Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF, etc)


•         Knowledge about healthcare specific technologies such as biomedical devices, Electronic Medical Records, HL7, etc

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


•         Four year degree or greater or a minimum of five years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect.


•         Experience assessing and identifying departmental opportunities associated with the use of technology/automation.


•         Experience influencing IS and Operational leadership with respect to process improvement and change management.


•         Experience writing technical specifications and technical documentation associated with technology infrastructure and application deployments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:


•         Master’s degree in related field.


•         Healthcare experience

•         Technology infrastructure certifications (CCNP, CCIE, MCSE, MCSA, or similar)
