We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an Executive Director – Strategic Design position that will be based in our Strategy department. This position is based at our corporate office in Altamonte Springs, FL.  
This position provides the opportunity to be responsible for developing and executing plans to build a culture of innovation at all levels of the organization. The EDSD will be responsible for developing and leading a team that uses a human-centered, design-based approach to co-create the most effective and sustainable solutions to the organizations top challenges/possibilities. The EDSD will ensure empathy is gathered from various levels of the organization in concert with consumers to design and rapidly develop prototypes, lead cycles of improvement and ensure appropriate deployment and results are achieved.
Specific job duties include:
  • Develop guiding principles, internal philosophy on innovation and strategies for design center to ensure success.
  • Inspire others to contribute to the positive culture of innovation through formal and informal presentations at the AHS Leadership Institute, Design Center and in the field. Provide colleagues across the company (executives to front line staff) the tools needed for success.
  • Provide senior leadership to the design of innovation labs.
  • Provide senior leadership to data capture, research and publications based on work at the design center.
  • Provide inspiring leadership to design team, cultivating a learning, creative and highly productive environment.
  • Ensure solutions are co-created, prototyped and deployed within parameters established by executive leadership.
  • Ensure solutions benefit the consumer. Collaborate with consumer intel/mkt research, marketing, user experience and other internal teams as appropriate to ensure the voice of the customer directly or indirectly influences solutions.
  • Ensure solutions that are co-created in the design center seamlessly transition from prototype to deployment working closely with project managers and the strategy office.
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years experience in immersive, human-centered design
  • Experience leading executives through design labs to co-create solutions to complex problems/possibilities
  • Experience building a team and coaching teams to deliver work output within an established timeline and budget constraints
Educational Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Design Thinking, Human Centered Design, Innovation or like degree preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Deep knowledge of design thinking/human centered design
  • Ability to pull together multiple, often conflicting inputs (qualitative and quantitative) into a common point of view, making ‘creative leaps’ that result in simple, clear conclusions and insights
  • Dynamic presenter and educator in design thinking and innovation
  • Expert in designing highly effective innovation labs
  • Highly creative, innovative and collaborative
  • Demonstrated ability to meet/exceed deadlines
  • General business knowledge - ability to understand and at times improve upon business plans, financial statements, strategic plans, operational plans, etc
