GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the analysis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and support of software applications and initiatives to support the AHS Post-Acute strategic goals.  Work activities require thorough understanding of Homecare and Hospice operations and workflow.  Develops expertise in utilizing, configuring and supporting the Homecare and Hospice EMR system, providing training and guidance to customers.  May serve as leader on simple to medium projects as assigned.  Develops test plans and performs application tests to ensure accuracy, integrity, inter-operability and completeness of the supported solutions.  Coordinates with other team members to maintain documentation for the support team and end-users.  Regularly connects with customer leadership and maintains relationships and open line of communication, identifying opportunities for improvement and solutions to business problems.  Prepares and conducts end user training as needed; may travel periodically for support or implementations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in assigned applications, providing analysis, support and maintenance of assigned, enterprise software applications
  • Provides timely response to user requests/inquiries and assists in prioritization of user request, maintaining high level of customer satisfaction

  • Communicates with users, team members and project manager regarding job status and/or potential problems

  • Leads and/or participates in special projects; estimates time to complete tasks and regularly tracks actual time against estimates

  • Communicates to the manager with a written status report: schedules, tasks, issues, and overall project status

  • Identifies user requirements and translates them into functional specifications

  • Regularly connects with customer leadership and maintains relationship and open line of communication

  • Provides customer training and guidance as needed, utilizing standard documentation as applicable

  • Participates in maintaining up to date documentation for the support team and end-users

  • Designs and executes test plans, test scenarios and resolves testing problems; coordinates and/or participates in release level upgrades for assigned applications

  • Follows department standard methodology and procedures, including ITSM, incident resolution and change management

  • Provides 24 hour, on call support when assigned

  • Mentors and develops other staff in the department

  • Records and prepares meeting minutes as assigned; contributes to developing meeting materials

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Office equipment technology
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Experience in supporting software applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Healthcare related field, OR equivalent experience in healthcare or healthcare IT
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in application support or equivalent is required
  • Experience in using and/or supporting a Homecare/Hospice EMR system or related application
  • Clinical background is preferred (RN or similar)
  • Operational knowledge of Homecare or Hospice is preferred
