Unit Description:

The Vascular Thoracic ICU is a 20-bed surgical acute care unit located on the 4th floor of the Ginsburg Tower. Our team believes strongly in team work, professionalism and extending the healing ministry of Christ. The Nurse Practice Council on VTICU is very active and strong. They participate in the units Vascular Governance, work to engage staff and have a great working relationship with the Vascular Surgeons as well as our Thoracic Surgeons. Our staff ratio is 1:1-3 based on acuity. Members of our team include, patient care techs, health unit coordinators & education and clinical specialist. Patients cared for include: endo AAA, open AAA, carotid endarterectomies, femoral bypasses, thoracotomies, and overflow of cardiovascular or cardiothoracic patients requiring critical care nursing. Special therapies consist of ventilators, CRRT, oscillators, paralytics, and thoracic lumbar drains.
