Job Description

This position is part of the Ameridrives Erie organization and will lead the site ABS (Altra Business System – our version of lean/TPS) system and will be responsible for providing ABS deployment support to our business unit. This position provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity for broad exposure to all aspects of our business and interacts routinely with Altra’s other business units and ABS Leadership teams to drive standardization. Endeavors to meet policy deployment objectives by performing the duties as stated below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provide guidance to business unit management on ABS deployment efforts.
2. Provide on-going master-level support and guidance to the Business Unit.
3. Act as change agent in challenging existing approaches and performance.
4. Implement ABS principles to improve quality, on-time delivery, and reduce operating costs and inventory.
5. Act as consultant and/or leader for kaizen events as required.
6. Develop and maintain first-rate ABS training materials.
7. Conduct and/or coordinate ABS Orientation/Overview training.
8. Participate in Altra’s global Kaizen events.
9. Maintain and improve lean knowledge through continuous education.
10. Support the development and implementation of the business strategy and ensure it is closely linked with the strategic priorities of the business.


Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Previous consulting experience and/or experience in a lean manufacturing leadership role. Working knowledge of Six Sigma techniques with Black Belt certification considered a plus. BS degree in accredited engineering, physical sciences, or business program. MBA or MS preferred. Additional requirements include strong analytical, communication and conflict resolution skills as well as the following:

 5+ years experience required in a manufacturing environment including demonstrated success in implementing Lean/TPS initiatives over a broad spectrum of processes.
 Experience in designing and developing Continuous Improvement programs.
 Deep and broad knowledge of lean/TPS principles and tools.
 Demonstrated ability to successfully implement lean/TPS principles within low volume, high mix manufacturing environments and in office processes.
 Ability to effectively train and mentor others on lean/TPS principles.
 Outstanding group facilitation, training, communication and presentation skills.
 Effective and collaborative problem solving skills.
 Self-motivation, drive, energy, and resilience.
 Excellent interpersonal skills: positive, persuasive, motivating.
 Demonstrated talent for building effective relationships with individuals at all levels in the organization.
 Strong business acumen and financial analysis skills.
