Job Description

TB Wood's Inc., an Altra Industrial Motion Company, is hiring a Foundry Process Engineer at the Chambersburg, PA location. This position is full-time, exempt.

Job Summary: The Foundry Process Engineer is responsibile for continuous improvement related to foundry production, including development of new foundry production methods and processes, as well as improvements to existing methods and processes, in order to increase foundry production, efficiency and reduce waste. In addition, this role is a key contributor to the long term development of the foundry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Establish SPC system to manage foundry variables.

• Develop, monitor and review foundry processes including improvement projects for pattern construction mold making gating, risering, pouring and cleaning.

• Manage Solid-Cast, Opti-Cast and software and create individual jobs Process Sheet. (Permanent mounted plates or MTO jobs for pulley machines.)

• Manage process, procedure and documentation in producing sample casting.

• Identify the causes of scrap in conjunction Foundry Operations and initiate the action required to reduce scrap.

• Study current foundry practices, investigate inefficiency regards to yield and reducing cleaning area on the castings, and determines new configuration on molding plates.

• Maintain analysis for production, scrap data base and pattern shop database.

• Contact and meet customers regarding quality issues, new jobs, supply customer with appropriate documentation.

• Guide, inspect commercial castings in Cleaning Room prior shipping.

• Handle daily process problems and through continuous assessment, and improvement.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and foundry processes.

• Able to use equipment in foundry processes.

• Ability to communicate and engage effectively with all levels in the organization.

• Thorough understanding of company and departmental policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of statistical software, or ability to learn.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

• 3-5 years Foundry Operation experience required

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
