Job Description


The purpose of the Human Resource Representative is to provide complete professional and timely administration and support services to employees in a manner consistent with established policies, procedures, and division direction. Performs Human Resources related duties and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: Recruiting, Employee Services, Training, Safety, Benefit Administration, Regulatory Compliance and Payroll.

  1. Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  2. Maintains and evaluates analytics making recommendations to HR Manager and other members of management.
  3. Facilitates and/or provides training to the workforce such as onboarding, Open Enrollment, documentation management, etc.
  4. Assists in the recruiting plan, strategy, and process for all hourly and non-exempt positions and is the main contact for employment service providers.
  5. Coordinates and attends career fairs and other creative recruiting initiatives.
  6. Maintains Affirmative Action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to comply with EEO regulations.
  7. Processes new hire, discipline, and termination documentation.
  8. Maintains Human Resource Information System (CORT and Access) records and compiles necessary reports from each database.
  9. Maintains confidential employee files such as personnel, benefit, training, medical, etc.
  10. Performs benefit administration to include new hire enrollment, annual open enrollment, claims resolution, and change reporting.
  11. Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolutions.
  12. Maintains contact in person, and by phone or email, with benefit consultants, service providers, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
  13. Tracks leave programs such as Family Medical and Short and Long Term Disability.
  14. Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs, as well as responsible for the coordination and planning of certain employee recognition functions.
  15. Generates weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports for management.
  16. Enters payroll changes in Access and CORT systems, processes payroll for both hourly and salaried groups, and maintains all payroll records for the entire Columbia City facility.
  17. Enters and executes any state or federal support enforcement or tax liens.
  18. Updates and maintains OSHA and other safety metrics and databases.
  19. Active member of Safety Committee and assists with safety training programs and other safety initiatives.
  20. Attends injury investigations when needed, and reports injury claim information to Worker’s Compensation carrier coordinating claims activity as necessary.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience required. 1-3 years’ experience in a fast-paced human resources department. Proficiency in MS Office required, including Access and PowerPoint experience preferred.



The ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, safety rules, quality instruction and process documentation, technical and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions verbally and in written form.



Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
