Job Description

SUMMARY

Move material into and through production in a manufacturing environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
  • Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
  • Transport raw materials to production workstations
  • Shift inspections to determine if forklifts require repairs and guarantee safety operations by performing regular maintenance
  • Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience as material handler
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
  • High school diploma or GED

Skills:

Language Skills – The ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals and government regulations. Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and business correspondences. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managers, customers, clients, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability – Must exhibit common sense ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and ability to deal with problems involving abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibration. The noise levels in the work environment it usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
