Job Description

Formsprag LLC, a Division of Altra Industrial Motion is seeking full time Quality Engineer for our facility in Warren, Michigan.

SUMMARY Maintain and assure the quality of products and components being manufactured and assembled with established standards through the implementation of the QMS and ABS tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component

  • May perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records

  • Handle numerous audits by customers, particularly those involved in aircraft and government parts

  • Keep meticulous records, and prepares required documentation to be in compliance with standards such as AS-9100 in conjunction with other quality, manufacturing and administrative personnel

  • May review some purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.    

  • Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures

  • Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities

  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management

  • Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities

  • May be involved in Material Review Board and attend meetings

  • Prepare and present technical and program information to team members and management

  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards

  • Highly involved in Corrective Action Reports and regularly scheduled audits, scheduling of audits matched up with internal auditors. 

  • Hold regular management briefings to discuss corrective actions and other major quality issues such as cost of scrap and causes of scrap

EDUCATION

Minimum of a four year college degree from an accredited college or university, preferably a BSME  or equivalent experience.  Other degrees will be considered on a case by case basis. 

 EXPERIENCE 

  • Must be detail oriented
  • Proven problem solving and root cause analysis skills are required. 
  • High level of computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Must have good communication skills, both orally and in writing to interface with customers and all levels of personnel in own organization.
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is preferred. 
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).  As a result, all applicants must be U.S. Persons within the meaning of ITAR.  ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Auditor a plus
