Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Quality Technician (QT) is responsible to monitor and audit internal and external production processes to assure parts and assemblies are made to specification. Ensure all tools within the plant, both personal and company owned, are calibrated and meet ISO standards. Coordinate and facilitate ISO 9001 program compliance and maintenance of ISO certification.


  • Monitor the quality performance of all internal and external processes through regular auditing program to help ensure ISO compliance and maintenance. Consolidate and evaluate this information for non-conformance. Create, update and ensure latest revision levels are in place with documentation. Train and assist as required.
  • Operate Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and utilize other tools, such as micrometers, gage blocks, and calipers to perform measurements. Document any non-conformance.
  • Working through purchasing, the QT will coordinate acceptance of vendors and perform first article inspections.
  • Address customer concerns as required through the Customer Performance Reviews. Process and facilitate the root cause analysis process to provide customer feedback in a timely manner.
  • Lead the Material Review Board in its’ efforts to reduce quality defects and the costs associated with material rejections and process scrap.
  • Calibration of company and employee tools, such as micrometers, calipers and other gages as scheduled. Order new tools as necessary.
  • Continually strive to improve procedures, recommend cost reductions and eliminate errors in documentation.
  • Maintain the quality lab and non-conforming product areas to company standards for safety and cleanliness. Responsible for quality lab instrumentation and tooling.
  • Evaluate products returned from customers (RGA) and make recommendation to Engineering Manager on warranty claims.
  • Safeguard confidential and proprietary information in accordance with company policy.
  • Attend regular meetings, on time, and keep quality objective metrics up to date.
  • Interface with other departments. Facilitate operation of scrap system.

Job Requirements


  • An Associates Degree in a technically oriented field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a quality function. ASQC certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an ISO 9001 or similar standard certified company preferred.


  • Strong problem solving skills through use of the 5 Why’s, 8D reports/CARS (Corrective Action Requests) or other tools.
  • Ability to perform measurements required to inspect parts.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints with a full understanding of geometry and algebra.
  • Able to use a PC and advanced use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent understanding of machine shop practices is required.
  • Knowledge of foundry and molding processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work with minimal supervision. Produce accurate work within defined timeframes.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, using proper workplace etiquette.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for up to five (5) hours, stand for up to one (1) hour, and walk around for about two (2) hour. The employee will frequently move up to fifty (50) pounds, occasionally move up to one hundred (100) pounds. The employee will perform the following activities; frequently be reaching, occasionally be stooping, crouching, and handling.

The work environment is both in an office setting (50%) doing sedentary work, and in a production setting (50%). Occasional overnight travel is required.
