Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsibilities include operation of specialized mechanical test equipment to evaluate performance and improve durability of overrunning clutch products for industrial and aerospace applications.

Duties include test plan development, all aspects of test execution, collecting data through digital data acquisition techniques, engineering analysis of data nd of product tested to destruction, and conception of design improvements to increase product performance

Representative projects include development of special patentable clutch assemblies to meet unique needs of niche applications for mining equipment and helicopter drives.

 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage required testing activities  and interface with engineering, marketing, and production as required
  • Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluations
  • Write detailed reports on test results for both internal and external customers
  • Oversee the repair and rebuild process and generate inspection reports
  • Participate in service and test engineer activity, by visiting customer sites and performing service work as required
  • Determine test methods and test parameters under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations in order to draw conclusion for design decisions
  • Drive projects, meeting the execution timelines.
  • Support production by setting up test equipment; provide technical support for QA/QC, commissioning of new critical equipment and developing the refurbishment steps and sequence for rebuilds
  • Participate in continuous improvement process

Job Requirements

Formal Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred

 Requirements:

  • Experience running mechanical test equipment or other means of product performance evaluations
  • Past work experience with data analysis and project planning and organization
  • Systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to take engineering analyses and translate them into the business stake, and clearly communicate the opportunity to line management
  • Must have hands-on experience with a strong mechanical aptitudeand familiarity with CAD
