Clinical Supervisor


Summary

Counsels and aids children and families requiring foster/adoptive care by providing case management services. Also provides case management supervision of assigned AFS staff.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following

  • Provides case management services to children and families
  • Facilitates placement of children in foster and adoptive homes.
  • Participates in development of assessment, service delivery, discharge, and aftercare planning.
  • Actively involved in the Developmental/Corrective plans of foster families and RCCL
  • Approve home studies as needed
  • Assists and monitors families in the compliance of licensing/regulatory standards.
  • Implements Intake Studies and Individual Service Plans in conjunction with foster parents and clients, as well as other professionals involved in the case within applicable standard (every 90 days or 6 months) and submits for supervisory approval.       
  • Participates in case planning conferences, Professional Consulting Team, ARD (school) meetings, court hearings, staffing, etc.
  • Responsible for a minimum of 2 weeks AFS new hire training involving orientation, CTK training and ensuring AFI completion within 6 months.
  • Assists in placement and discharge decisions as needed.
  • Facilitate case staffing as needed.
  • Review AFS documentation and sign off documentation as needed in a timely manner as per standards.
  • Conducts ongoing training as necessary including foster parent training, AFI, and AFS
  • Promotes team-building
  • Maintains regular contact with family and child and monitors psychological, mental, emotional, physical, and environmental well-being through phone contacts, email and home visits.
  • Provides resource information and referrals to community organizations for therapeutic treatment such as behavior modification, stress management, and therapy to assist client in controlling disorders and other problems.
  • Helps families develop a therapeutic milieu conducive to healthy child development.  Delivers       direct therapeutic intervention to child and family.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed to prevent escalation of high-risk behavior, relapse, hospitalization, placement disruption, and other negative outcomes on a 24-hour on call basis.
  • Submits completed action sheet for placements, discharges, etc. within 24 working hours of action to Clinical Support Staff.
  • Completes Incident Reports within 24 hours or the next business day of the event.
  • 72-hour service plans will be completed within 72 hours of admission for each specialized child.
  • Provides consultation for foster parents, adoptive parents, biological parents, respite providers, child care staff, and other caregivers as indicated.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case notes, billing documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation according to licensing, accreditation, and agency standards.
  • Consult with medical doctors and other specialists, and/or treatment team members concerning treatment plans and amend plans as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, seminars, and professional conferences.
  • Facilitate foster parent support groups, in-service training, and pre-service training as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Inputs and updates child and family information into the CTK information system.
  • Ensures that appointments for diagnostic assessments are scheduled and completed within 30 days of placing a child.
  • Conducts quarterly evaluations, creates corrective action plans and monitors foster homes.
  • Develop a Family Training Plan for assigned families.
  • Completes Intake study on all children prior to placement or within 30 days for emergency placements and submits for supervisory approval.
  • Submits completed action sheet for placements, discharges etc. within 24 working hours of action to Clinical Support Specialist.
  • Will assign cases to staff and maintain on-call schedule.
  • Will hold assigned staff accountable for completing work correctly and within time frames. Therefore, must review and return their work within days of receiving it.
  • Will model professional to staff by maintaining appropriate boundaries, observing and enforcing the dress code, spending time in the office, being timely and organized.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, Arrow policy, and COA standards.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises staff.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Arrow Child & Family Ministries policies, State and Federal laws and policy and procedures.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance including coaching and future performance development; managers training needs through learning management system; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintain quality improvement goals and address at regularly scheduled staff meetings.


Education, Licensure and/or Experience
License and Master's Degree in a social services related field plus 2 years' experience in child placing OR Master's Degree in a social services and 3 years' experience in child placing OR License and a Bachelor's Degree in a social services related field plus 4 years' experience in child placing OR
Bachelor's Degree in a social services field plus 5 years' experience in child placing. Must qualify for CPMS.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the ministry.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Other Requirements
Valid driver's license, appropriate insurance and reliable car.
Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
Must submit to pass random drug tests during employment.
Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
