Job Description

Carrols Restaurant Group, Inc., a growing company located in Syracuse, NY, and one of the largest restaurant companies in the U.S., has an excellent opportunity in our Cash Management department for a Cash Management Specialist.

This position will focus primarily on the control and reconciliation of unit bank and receivable accounts. Position will communicate with the field, other departments, outside vendors, and banking institutions on a daily basis for multiple reasons including reconciliation variances, safe or reporting issues, late deposits, and other research items. Position will prepare all Month End cash journal entries as well as assigned bank account and receivable reconciliations to ensure bank balances are properly reconciled to the General Ledger.

The following is a summary of the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in this position.

  • Daily reconciliation of POS bank deposits to corresponding bank
  • Daily reporting of over/short deposit, credit and gift card discrepancies and the communication of any variances +/- $20.00 to Operations
  • Tracking and communication of late deposits as well as continued follow up with District Supervisors and/or bank contacts as needed.
  • Smart Safe Deposit reconciliation: This includes comparison of POS deposits to End of Day reporting as well as reconciliation of bank deposits picked up by the armored vendor versus amounts posting to the bank.
  • Communication to Operations regarding POS Reporting discrepancies, Missing Transmissions, Coin order variances, and A/C pickup issues with Smart Safes.
  • Daily reconciliation of POS credit and gift cards to processor files in ReconNet.
  • Escalation of credit card settlement issues to Help Desk for system research.
  • Credit Card refunds processed upon request and the handling of credit card chargebacks.
  • Preparation of Corporate Deposits and related journal entries.
  • Reconcile daily POS university cards to daily, weekly, or monthly bank deposit postings.
  • Accountable for the proper reporting of all over/short entries posting to the General Ledger. Reversing journal entries posted as needed.
  • Responsible for the Month End bank reconciliation of all assigned banks making sure cash balances are properly reconciled to the General Ledger.
  • Month End reconciliation of assigned receivable accounts: credit, gift, and/or university cards including the monthly posting of all over/shorts and fee expense journal entries. Accrual entries posted as needed.
  • Prepare monthly Cash O/S and Credit Card Analyses.
  • Cover responsibilities of other staff members when he/she is out of the office.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Associate's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience required. 1-2 years experience in an Accounting Department desired. Must be experienced in computer applications, such as Excel and Word. Candidate must have the ability to organize and present material in a manner to gain agreement or acceptance. Good customer service skills and good written/oral communication skills a must.
