Job Description


Manages sales activities of the Sales Department by performing the
following duties personally or through District Managers.

Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.

Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.

Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and
discount rates.

Develops and communicates the departmental long-term vision and focus.

Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control
sales programs.

Directs channel development activities and coordinates sales distribution by
establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.

Advises District Managers, Sales Representatives, and customers concerning
sales and advertising techniques.

Assigns sales territory to Sales Representatives to maximize profitability.

Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist customers in promoting

Directs product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable
items from sales line.

Represents company at trade association meetings and other special events to
promote products.

Delivers sales presentations to key customers in coordination with Sales

Meets with key customers, assisting Sales Representatives with maintaining
relationships and negotiating and closing deals.

Coordinates liaison between Sales Department and other sales related units.

Manages proper inventory level for program effectiveness and profitability.

Analyzes and controls expenditures of department to conform to budgetary

Assists other departments within organization to prepare catalogs and sales

Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas
of proposed customer base expansion.

Recaps monthly incentives.

Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.

Recommends or approves budget, expenditures and appropriations for Sales

Develops and maintains positive working relationships with assigned suppliers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages District Managers, who supervise all Sales Representatives,
Merchandiser, and Wine Consultants.  Is
responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the
Sales Staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints and resolving problems.
