Summary - Supports Night Shift Shipping Operations by ensuring facilities and equipment remain operational in order to maintain high levels of efficiency and outbound productivity.  This is completed by preventative and real-time maintenance focused programs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Building Maintenance Manager, with dotted line to the Senior Distribution Manager, the Maintenance Technician is a key contributor to operational success.  This position is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and/or performing all maintenance-related activities within the distribution facility, including but not limited to:  supporting the effective use and functionality of the automated equipment; installing, maintaining and/or repairing machinery and equipment such as conveyor control systems, material handling equipment and systems, engines, motors, and conveyor systems; physical structures; and pipe and electrical systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
Diagnoses and properly repairs material handling equipment and automated picking system-related error conditions occurring in the distribution center.

Oversees maintenance, modifications, and/or system upgrades of conveyor control system.

Perform minor welding tasks with electrical welding equipment on mild steels and knowledgeable of all safety practices related to welding processes.

Troubleshoot complex electrical controls and install electrical circuitry, conducts, and control components.

Assesses the efficiency of warehouse infrastructure and equipment; recommends modifications to management.

Manages preventive maintenance plans and schedules for all facility equipment and machinery to prevent equipment failure and loss of productivity.

Performs regularly-scheduled inspections to all facility equipment (i.e., MHE, conveyor, lighting, heating, ventilation systems and other equipment); notifies management concerning need for repairs or alterations. Reviews current safety functions and identifies hazards in the warehouse including safety lock-out / tag-out, driving machinery, and general hazards.

Maintains / manages relationships with MHE vendors, third party contractors and/or other vendors assisting or performing installations, maintenance or repair of any and all physical structures, machinery or equipment within the distribution center including maintaining all related records, receipts, warranties, etc. in an organized manner.

Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to and remove worn or defective parts; inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems or imperfections; performs repairs and/or manages replacement as needed; starts machines and equipment to test operation following repairs.

Performs basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.

Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.

Manages the inventory of spare parts. Performs other duties as assigned by management

Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Vocational training in mechanical and electrical systems, 3-5 years direct technical and operational experience with material handling equipment, automated picking systems, and mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment systems. Must have experience with programmable logic controllers for purpose of troubleshooting.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Forklift Certificate

Computer skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, and with Internet Explorer.  Experience using software programs including WMS, ERP and RF systems in an automated high volume production system
