Moen has a new opening for a Senior/Process Engineer Brazing to join our New Bern, North Carolina manufacturing team.  Moen’s Process Engineer acts as the process and subject matter expert for the Brazing department and for the more highly automated processes and machines in the facility.


  • Facilitate Kaizen events for the department in support of Continuous Improvement
  • Coordinate equipment moves through Maintenance
  • Develop cycle time estimates for automated or semi-automated equipment including brazing machines.
  • Manage projects associated with the plant strategic direction
  • Support New Product Development activities in terms of process and product qualifications.
  • Assist in evaluating design for assembly (DFA).
  • Monitor and adjust process and machine capacities and machine acquisitions in response to extreme product volume changes.
  • Impact the profitability of the New Bern plant through new business creation, utilizing new technologies, improving existing technologies, resulting in competitiveness through cost savings.
  • Respond to Safety incidents and participate in Safety initiatives for associated machinery and processes.
  • Coordinate and lead 6S activities.
  • Evaluate and create quotes for new business opportunities in areas of focus
  • Work with both internal and external resources to justify and implement new equipment and/or processes; prepare production proposals and appropriation requests for major projects.
  • Generate, modify and trouble-shoot machine and process programs.
  • Generate accurate set-up instructions, method sheets, equipment set-up and operating instructions and tool designs for semi and fully automated machines.
  • Seek, evaluate, justify and implement process and design changes that will improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from accredited four-year college or university required; Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of formal problem solving methodologies such as 8-D, DOE or Six Sigma, required.
  • Minimum, two (2) years of experience in high volume assembly and packaging, new product introductions, process improvements, error proofing, tool and fixture design, machine design, process control, familiarity with product costing / routings, project management, and cellular manufacturing preferred.
  • Minimum, two (2) years’ experience in Brazing technologies preferred.
  • Minimum, two (2) years Alan Bradley or similar controls experience preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to write appropriate responses in the form of e-mails, letters, and supporting charts and graphs to achieve the preceding job descriptions.  Ability to prepare presentations and administer speeches in support of the job requirements.


Math Ability:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems, MES systems, AutoCAD and/or Pro-E.
