Job Description

We are seeking a Site Civil Inspector/Superintendent for a large office building project in the Laurel, Md. area.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Daily interaction on new construction projects to verify all site, civil and structural work is in accordance with ALL contract documents, including the GC's QC Plan, as well as all applicable codes and standards.
  • General duties include reviewing blueprints, specs, submittals, and permit documents, as well as documenting inspections in daily reports, photographs, and written non-compliance documents.
  • Develop and maintain Deficiency and Omissions Logs and manage the punch list work associated with the site, civil, and structural components of the project.
  • Review pay applications for work performed and monitor the development and maintenance of the As-Built drawings, as well as generate Safety Observation Reports.
  • Additional duties include providing input for change orders, submittal and RFI responses.
  • Perform constructability reviews for future projects, provide meaningful comments on drawings and specs.
  • Night and weekend shifts may be required.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

  • 10 to 15 years of experience with site civil construction.
  • BS Construction Management (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in the inspection of precast walls, structural steel, excavation, underground utility work, and parking lot construction.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and techniques, including experience in proper installation methods of construction materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent field investigations and collect field data to support design work.
  • Ability to effectively follow instructions; deal effectively with contractors and clients.
  • Ability to understand all construction documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • A good team player with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • ACI, NICET or similar Civil Inspection Certifications preferred but nor required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour (preferred but not required).
