Job Description

Herzing University is currently looking for a full-time, “student-first” focused professional to work within the Enrollment teams and support our Herzing University Online Division students as an Admissions Advisor.

As the Admissions Advisor, you create the first impression for many potential students. You will serve as a recruiter and advisor, implement the admissions process, and provide counsel to prospective students, helping them decide if Herzing is a good fit for their educational needs ('why Herzing?') and guide them through the enrollment process. 

Based out of our Oakbrook, Illinois office (located just outside Chicago), this position will be expected to work two evenings a week, and periodic Saturday shifts.  

Herzing University Online Division offers undergraduate and graduate degrees programs in some fast growing career fields including Nursing, Healthcare, Technology, Public Safety and Business.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities

A full job description will be provided during the interview process when you can discuss what this specific role will look like, but a few of this position's responsibilities may include the following: 

  • Interview prospective students while defining their eligibility and suitability for the program(s) offered, describe Herzing services, discuss the students' interest and readiness for online learning, and address the student's potential schedule/time commitment and potential financial arrangements.
  • Respond to inquiries for information about Herzing programs primarily through telephone communication; secondarily through email and postal delivery.   
  • Follow the enrollment process through complete, accurate and timely completion of paperwork and applications.
  • Keep the prospective student on-task with constant interactions (via telephone, email, or face-to-face meetings) by maintaining control of the conversation to present material in a conscience, clear format.
  • Follow all local, state, federal and Herzing guidelines as they apply to student admissions.
  • Maintain a current and accurate knowledge of all program offerings, policies and procedures. 

To be qualified for this position you must have the following:

  • A minimum of 1 year of previous Admissions experience, or related work.
  • Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

You must demonstrate a strong ability to adapt your communication style to meet your students’ individual needs. To do this, we will expect all applicants to be prepared to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent competency working with people of different backgrounds and capabilities
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with a sharp attention to detail.
  • Available to work evenings and/or weekends.
