Herzing University's Akron campus has an opening for a full-time Faculty Clinical Coordinator. Our Bachelor's students are afforded the opportunity to gain real-life experience in a nursing environment through the relationships Herzing maintains with local employers ('clinical sites'). 
The responsibilities of this position will include maintaining accreditation standards for all Nursing Faculty Members and building outreach opportunities for Nursing Clinical participation. A successful candidate would have the opportunity to teach in the classroom, fill in for Clinical coverage as needed, help coordinate substitute Clinical coverage for students.   Ideally, applicants will have prior teaching experience, however, to be qualified for this position you must have the following:
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Hold an unencumbered Nursing License in the state of Ohio

To be successful in this role, you will need to be prepared to demonstrate that you are service oriented, have solid MS Office experience, and confidence to network and build relationships with potential Nursing Clinical sites. These include any of the following:
  • Experience working in a Nursing Education environment.
  • Solid competency in building and maintain relationships with current and potential Clinical sites.  
  • Reliable time management skills. Capable of working in a dynamic environment with collaboration across multiple Herzing University campuses.
  • Consistent organizational skills to maintain clinical documentation on students and faculty members.
   Schedule
While there is some flexibility in the hours worked, you will need to be available 40 hours a week when both the students are there and when campus leadership are working.

____________________________ JOB SUMMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES The position's Responsibilities are broken into two primary functions, Clinical Coordination and Faculty Competencies.
Clinical Coordination
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the profession to include trends in practice and education, compliance with governing body’s policies and procedures, competitive and collaborative practices with regards to other programs in the area, and any other information regarding practice that might impact the achievement of program outcomes.
  • Identify, select, contract with, monitor, and evaluate all clinical sites.  Maintain site selection criteria and contract documentation in support of nursing competency requirements.  
  • Work in conjunction with the internship course coordinator to place students for their internship assignment and ensure that site visits are accomplished during the internship hours.
  • Advise the Program Chair on program areas of interest, i.e. industry trends; program statistics, analysis, and recommendations; clinical site availability, opportunities, and appropriateness; student performance; areas of concern, etc.  
  • Provide recommendations and address concerns to the Program Administrator on the competency and clinical management skills of clinical faculty, as well as compliance with clinical facility policies and procedures. 
  • Participate in the program planning process.
  • Establish and maintain a system to ensure the timely and accurate completion and submission of facility, campus, system, government and accrediting agency reports related to the clinical experience.
  • Participate in Influencer Relations Activities with healthcare facilities including, but not limited to, active participation in related professional associations, and building business connects in the community.
  • Ensure all necessary facility-required documentation and training is completed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provide orientation, training, and development guidance to faculty and students regarding their clinical site.
  • Assist the Department Chair (or designee) with the evaluation and training of clinical instructors.
  • Provide recommendations to the Administration of the program concerning the upkeep and purchase of subject-specific hardware, software and other media.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for resolution of clinical personnel issues, which may arise between staff at the clinical site and clinical faculty and students.  Engages program administration as appropriate in facilitating the resolution of clinical personnel issues if further intervention is needed.
  • Employ intervention strategies to assist students in achieving maximum benefit from their educational experience.
  • Participate in required meetings and committees as a member of the academic and/or campus management team(s) 
  • Participate in meetings at the clinical facilities as necessary.
  • Participate in course meetings arranged by the course leads to ensure that clinical settings are meeting the needs of the course.
  • Support and constructively contribute to campus decision-making processes 
  • Provide advisement support regarding clinical expectations and performance to students 
  • Participate in professional development activities, professional organizations, and influencer activities.
  • Accept and complete additional related duties as assigned by the Program Administrator.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Clinical Faculty Coordinators must meet all faculty appointment requirements for the assigned program.
  • Current, and unencumbered, license or certification as applies to the program area.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
  • Proficiency with other technologies currently used in clinical settings.

    • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects.
    • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
