Herzing University’s Online Graduate Nursing Program is committed to providing the engaged professional nurses with a practical and pragmatic learning experience. Graduate Clinical Faculty are board certified Nurse Practitioners who engage with our graduate Family Nurse Practitioner ('FNP') students who serve as clinical evaluators and support specialists.  
Herzing's FNP concentration is offered online and has professional nursing students throughout the country. We are looking for talented professionals to engage our students in the state they currently practice. Each Graduate Clinical Faculty member will work with up to twelve (12) registered nurses, currently enrolled in a clinically based nurse practitioner course in our graduate nursing program. 
Although we are looking for Nurse Practitioners nation wide, our priority locations are:
  • Alabama 
  • California
  • Illinois
  • Louisiana  
  • Tennessee 
   Here’s how you’ll make a difference: This position engages these students through online visual media and other electronic means on a weekly basis to assist in their mastery of both population-based course content and clinical reasoning in a practice setting with patients and an approved student preceptor (mentor).   This position can work from anywhere, and will report to the Graduate Nursing Program Chair.    To be considered for this position, you must have the following:
  • Hold active, unencumbered Advanced Practice Registered Nurse ('APRN') license in the state of practice 
  • Nationally Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner or a Nurse Practitioner with a population focus (e.g. Adult, Geriatric, Pediatrics, etc.) 
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice  
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a board-certified advanced nurse practitioner

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage in a weekly discussion, either in person or through visual electronic communications such as Skype or Collaborate or by other electronic means with each assigned student
  • Monitor activities and submissions in the Typhon clinical documentation system
  • Communicate regularly with each student’s preceptor and the course instructor
  • Communicate with the course instructor, Program Chair, and student’s preceptor to address or help resolve any issues that may arise
  • Evaluate “diagnostic reasoning” assignments, and collaborate with the instructor who assigns course grades and documents alerts and updates in the BEACON system
  • Complete student, preceptor, and site evaluations at the midterm and end of each semester 
  • Perform site visits as needed based on state requirements

  • Keep student mastery of nurse practitioner clinical skills as the focus of all interactions
  • Display a positive, professional image of the University at all times
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures to streamline clinical placements
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the faculty and program leadership team
  • Exemplify all elements of Herzing University’s P.R.I.C.E. of Success model of behavior
  • Communicate inter- and intra-departmentally to resolve student issues
  • Performs other instructional support duties as assigned

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: 
  • Professional written and oral communication skills 
  • Proven skills using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
  • Proven email and visual electronic communication skills such as Skype or other visual technologies
  • Available to reach out and communicate with the instructor, students and preceptors at various times, which includes days, evenings and/or weekends as mutually agreed upon 
  • Ability to work independently, and resolve problems with sound, professional judgment
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail and follow-through
