Job Description

Herzing's Toledo campus is currently looking for at least one Adjunct Faculty member to teach one or more Surgical Technology courses in our Associates program. Our immediate need is to find someone who can start teaching in January, when our Spring 2018 term begins.
   
The classes you will be teaching will likely be scheduled during the week, in the afternoons. 
  
   
You will be expected to follow the prescribed curriculum, but we encourage feedback and input are always welcome! Students will be accessed based on a variety of methods, depending on the class. These can include projects, exams, essays, case studies, discussion board activity, etc.

Qualifications:
To be qualified for this position you must have the following:

  • Hold the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA.
  • A Bachelor's degree
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Within the last five (5) years a minimum of three (3) years of operating room experience or teaching in the field, or a combination of the two prior to hire date.

 
Physical Requirements
This program has both classroom and clinical components. By applying to this job, you are confirming that you are able to do the following, in both the classroom and at our clinical sites:

  • Consistently communicate using the spoken word with students, staff and colleagues.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Operate equipment specific to programmatic track, personal computer, audio-visual equipment, clinical equipment, etc.
  • In addition to the above requirements, for programs that include a clinical component, all faculty must be able to:
    • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects.
    • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
    • Lift up to 25 pounds.
