Job Description

Herzing University is currently looking for an IT professional to fill a Systems Analyst position in our Home Office in Menomonee Falls, WI (just outside of Milwaukee). This role works with stakeholders to define and document business processes, develop system requirements for data and technology initiatives and has the opportunity to drive the project all the way through to completion. CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS To be successful in this job, you will have four primarily business and technical characteristics…
You will know SQL and get really excited about wrangling data into insights that help make better decisions.  This will be critical because you will expected to use SQL to generate and analyze data and communicate to the business using numbers, graphs and reports. You will think that learning and tweaking software applications is fun. Herzing University uses several different applications and platforms, but as you learn about the business you will be allowed to develop and deliver many solutions yourself. This means that you are prepared to roll up your sleeves and learn the back end of some applications yourself; these can include applications used across many industries such as SharePoint, Great Plains and Service Now as well as Higher Education specific applications including Blackboard, CampusVue, etc. You will be able to informally lead initiatives. As a highly visible member of the technical team, you will need to weave in and out of many different and often cross-functional work groups. These groups can of course be in the business, but also include our Data Warehouse team, Business Intelligence team, Applications team, etc. You will be able to function as an Analyst and Project Manager. We want to make sure that we are aligned on our project goals and that the technology we are implementing will meet those goals. You will need to be able to articulate and document goals in business terms, translate into technical terms and then coordinate the implementation.
BENEFITS Herzing offers full-time employees competitive health (as well as vision and dental) insurance package on day one. Our benefits package also includes a Tuition Waiver Program for full-time employees and eligible dependents after one year of employment. QUALIFICATIONS When applying to this position, you are confirming that you have both:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Intelligence or a closely related field
  • A minimum of three years of experience in systems design, analysis, and/or programming

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to listen to customer needs and build rapport with external and internal clients
  • Critically understanding client operations and systems
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in technology including the ability to read, interpret and apply technology from manuals and related documents
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during the course of work
  • Ability to professionally handle highly confidential information

  • Determine potential solutions and test them for technical and business compatibility

  • Adaptable and willing to take initiative
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness and ability to make commitments and consistently deliver
  • Uphold our core values:  Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Caring and Engagement
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THIS JOB IS RIGHT FOR YOU? Only you can determine if this position is a good fit for you, but we feel that you will likely be an ideal applicant for this position if you meet four basic criteria.
  • You meet each of the qualifications outlined above.
  • You have a strong IT aptitude and background, but can effectively work and communicate with non-technical employees.
  • You are comfortable taking a formal or informal leadership role on many different types of work teams. We are looking for someone who can really help drive business results, without needed a member of the management team included in every decision.
This is a unique position, and we are not looking for someone who has done a job exactly like this in the past. We are looking for someone who thinks that this sounds like an awesome opportunity, and has the skills and aptitude to develop into the role. WHAT NEXT? If this sounds like a good fit for you, we want to hear from you today! On the other hand, if you know someone who may be a good fit for this job and you refer the person we hire, Herzing generously offers 'sincere gratitude.' If you are looking for a more traditional financial referral bonus for helping us find our ideal candidate, you need to get a job here first! ______________________________
