Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a custom automation company to place a Controls Engineer. This company designs and builds custom automation equipment for assembly and test applications. They have experience in a broad range of industries including energy, transportation, life science, consumer goods, and electronics. Projects tend to range in size from $100,000 to 2 million dollars. As their business continues to rapidly grow, they have an immediate need for a full-time Controls Engineer to join their team in St. Joseph, MI. Please note, this client does not sponsor. As a result, this position is only eligible to candidates who are US Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Scope of the Position:
The eventual primary responsibility will be to take on the design effort on assigned projects under the direction of the Director of Engineering. It shall typically include, but not be limited to the following:
-- Prepare control systems designs and utilizing AutoCAD to prepare drawings which include power distribution, PLC, main and station panel layouts, console layouts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation.
-- Write and document software.
-- Review and take ownership of budgets and schedules.
-- Work with the Project Manager to develop costs to complete and release dates.
-- Coordinate with the Controls Assembly Department during the build phases of the project to provide efficient and timely solutions to problems.
-- After power up, debug software to develop the machine into a “production worthy” system.
-- Participate as a team member during the installation phase of the project. Train business units/engineers in the throughput process and application to their business
-- Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions

Job Requirements


Requirements:
-- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology is desired (but not required with relevant experience)
-- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is required (additional PLC experience is a plus)
-- Experience in robotics is preferred (but not required)
-- Experience with AC/DC electronics is preferred
-- Experience with Ladder Logic Programming is preferred along with some type of mechatronics experience

Workplace Environment:
-- 1st / day shift
-- Domestic / International Travel will be required approximately 20% of the time
