Description: Content Director Job Description

This position will oversee creation of lifestyle, brand-related and marketing content across multiple platforms and formats to drive user engagement, brand awareness and partner brands, user retention, and leads for partner companies and brands. He or she will operationalize brand and marketing strategy in collaboration with Director of Marketing and marketing campaign managers when partner campaigns are launched. Functions as resident brand, voice, and style expert, encompassing both visual and verbal aspects of our defined identity.

Primary responsibilities include:

•         Develop and manage an enterprise-wide editorial calendar encompassing the full range of user interests across a variety of platforms, categories and brands.

•         Act as editor in the development of all marketing content, including copy writing, copy editing, and project managing internal and external resources for writing and graphic design (content/design studios)

•         Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all content channels (online, social, email, mobile, video, print)

•         Once a partnership engagements are secured, collaborate with marketing campaign managers to integrate content activities with marketing campaigns being executed

•         Educate broader departments about technical aspects of content marketing

•         Gauge content effectiveness and making recommendations for marketing and content strategy course-corrections based on that analysis

•         In collaboration with design and production staff, leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and develop assets that support a point of view and educate customers on current and future trends within the lifestyle, fashion, sports, entertainment and business spaces

•         Establishing and maintaining work flow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content

•         Conducting periodic competitive audits

•         Develop and maintain a centralized library of all externally facing content, ensuring it is easily accessible for repurposing and reusing content themes

•         Perform other related duties as required

 

Qualifications and experience

•         Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field

•         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and exceptional editorial skills

•         7+ years of digital or content marketing experience, preferably in both, a B2B and B2Csettings

•         Proven experience producing engaging, innovative and incredibly sharable content that is optimized for search and user experience

•         Experience telling stories using words, images, video, and audio, with a knack for creating content that draws in an audience

•         Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics

•         Fluency in marketing automation systems and high proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce.com or Dealersocket.com

•         Familiarity with and some experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and PhotoShop

•         Basic technical understanding of HTML, web publishing, and SEO

•         Proven experience developing and continually evolving content strategies, both short and long term, as well as creating compelling messages for different target demographics

•         Proven ability to collaborate across teams and departments, and manage others as well as multiple projects

•         Must have the ability to lead and inspire teams of creative personnel and content creators to achieve Company stated goals

•         Leadership skills required to define and manage a set of goals involving diverse contributors and content types

•         Project management skills to manage editorial schedules and deadlines within Company and ongoing partners’ campaigns

•         Ability to work within a tight timeline utilizing teams or contractors in in the US and in other countries if necessary.
