Description:  Position Purpose:

To lead the procurement team and oversee the sourcing and
purchasing of raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services required at the
best economic value for the Company while meeting all material quality
specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, direct, and control activities
related to the procurement function.  Improve
purchasing performance through processes, communications, and performance,
utilizing industry best practices.
Set objectives, KPI’s, and delivery results for
the procurement function.  Manage, lead,
schedule, allocate and monitor work of purchasing team members.
Provide continuous training for the procurement
team to ensure maximum performance from the purchasing department.
Work closely with all departments, including
sales, engineering, scheduling, production, and shipping to insure smooth flow
of material at all times.
Utilize ERP system to order, inventory, and
control raw materials, MRO purchases, and services.
Prepares instructions regarding purchasing
systems and procedures.
Analyzes market and delivery conditions to
determine present and future material availability, and prepares market
analysis reports.
Source, recruit, develop, and maintain suppliers
that provide high quality products and services at a better price while
maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
Engage key vendors to investigate opportunities
for improved pricing or product availability with no negative impact to quality
or schedule.
Review suppliers for compliance with company’s
quality system vendor performance criteria.
Prepares and issues purchase orders and change
notices.
Process purchase requisitions from all
departments and insure proper approvals are received before processing purchase
orders.
Work closely with accounts payable to insure
fast payment of invoices.
Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance
to company policy.
Oversees all activities related to procurement
of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
Track and disposition slow moving and obsolete
material.
Perform any other job duties assigned.

 

Essential Skills,
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management,
Engineering or related field.
A minimum of 10 years in a strategic procurement
leadership role.  Experience buying
within the specialty chemicals industry is required.
Proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel,
PowerPoint. Must be comfortable interacting with the ERP system through a
PC/terminal server.
Thorough understanding of strategic procurement
and supply chain management and the impact that different order activities and
changes have upon the different points of the chain.
Ability to acquire detailed knowledge of
specific customers, pricing, products, product lines, and packing &
shipping standards.
Ability to liaison with other cross functional
employees and work with multiple processes and procedures.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and offer
solutions to problems or involve the necessary people to ensure the problem is
properly resolved;
Quick learner and have the ability to keep an
open mind to changes that may impact daily activities.
