Description: General
Purpose:

 

Advance Project Sourcing Engineer will be primarily responsible
for supply chain readiness, cost readiness and implement global supply chain
and procurement strategies for design projects. Perform technical and
commercial supply chain due diligence to ensure supplier reliability, technical
capability, quality and regloatory compliance for continuity of supply and
cost.

Accountabilities:

Business
Strategy and Direction:

Develop and
deploy specific supply chain  strategy for design projects

Global
supply chain and procurement strategies
Supply Chain
due diligence for Medical Class I and Class II devices.
Develop
winning value propositions that add value for our customers

Ensure that
all aspects of Supply Chain are included in the strategy (i.e., Design,
Supplier Quality Development Logistics, New business development, and
Commodity Management).
Drive
positive impact on margin enhancement through differentiated component
sourcing solutions
Develop
effective relationships with SSCM/ GAM/ GCM ans ensure they are fully
involved with new design opportunities.
Establish
credibility with customers through the demonstration of technical
competence
Develop
effective relationships with senior individuals within the supply base,
ensuring that Flex, wants, needs and requirements are clearly communicated
and met.
Understand Medical
Segment products/manufacturing requirements
Forge
relationships with the supply base that allow Flex ongoing visibility to
the industry, the players, and information that will allow Flex to build a
compelling Supply Chain Solution.

 

Technical
Management:

Understand
customer technical and  qualification requirements for design
projects and develop sourcing solution that meet project requirements.
Provide
technical backup for alternate sourcing recommendations
Support
complex component development activities in collaboration with engineering
and quality.
Utilize GCM resources
to advise designers of lower-cost material or assembly approaches, and sit
it in on design reviews as required
Drive the GCM
team to carry out the necessary supplier development initiatives to fill
process gaps and unique customer process challenges 

 

Cost
Management:

Develop
pricing strategies for production, design, and benchmark quoting
Perform RFQ
for design and productions requirements, negotiate pricing and keep track
of costed Bill Of Material changes.
Identify
creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes, systems and value
engineering
Make
effective use of cost analysis tools available with GPSC team
Develop
Sustainable Materials Margin opportunities
Ensure lowest
landed component costs are negotiated, captured, and implemented
Develop
understanding of price points for common types / commodities within the segment
Provide  inventory reduction management
recommendations

 

 

 

  

Job Requirements:

 

Education/ Experience

This
position requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical (engineering) area of
expertise or business.
Minimum
5 years of experience related to technical sourcing and material management in
a design or manufacturing environment.
Experience
in medical design/manufacturing industry will be an added advantage.
 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the
most complex design related documents, specifications, datasheet etc.
Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to respond effectively to the most
complex or sensitive inquiries. Ability to write email or articles using
original or innovative techniques or style.

Ability
to make effective and persuasive presentations on technical or complex topics
to top management.
Ability
to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Demonstrates
advanced functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as
well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
Demonstrates
expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and
related business.
Demonstrates
knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or
functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.

Use
of the following tools may be required: 
Office Skills: typing, telephones, data entry, HR related and office
software to include, word processing, spread sheets, and presentation packages.

Must
have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent
interpersonal, commincation and organizational skills

technologies. 
Erroneous
decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and
personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
