As a member of the TFC team, provides direct skills coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care program. Interventions are defined by the child’s treatment plan within the context of an evidence-based model of treatment foster care for children and their families using a trauma-informed approach. Provides one-on-one behavioral coaching and teaching to children in the Treatment Foster Care program. Works closely with other team members to identify the specific skill(s) the child needs to work on, including the method(s) for teaching the skill, as well as monitoring and rewarding the child’s progress.  Works collaboratively with team members to provide prosocial skill development for the child through instruction, practice and coaching. Amends approach based on child’s needs, progress, and feedback from team. Takes child on activities and outings in the community to provide mentoring and recreation, focusing on specific behaviors and skills the child needs to learn and practice, applying principles from social learning and developmental psychology. Participates in weekly Foster Parent Support and Training meetings, as required. Completes and submits all other agency required reports related to service provision. Participates in supervisory process for guidance, direction, support, and approval of decision-making, assessment, service planning and intervention. Presents cases for staffing or participate in staffings as needed, including weekly team meetings and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum of High School Degree or its equivalent; Associate’s Degree or completion of some college credits desirable. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to motivate children, their families and foster parents to participate in a highly detailed treatment model. Demonstrated ability to provide services using a team approach. Valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance required. Access to transportation for visits, meetings and to transport clients as needed. Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS.
