Job Description


In a highly collegial and collaborative Legal Department, this position is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to the Company’s business units located in the Western Hemisphere and shared services, including the Health, Safety & Environment Department, Supply Chain, Risk Management, and Information Technology, among others. Specific job responsibilities are subject to change from time to time, as the Legal Department strives to balance the work assigned to its lawyers, and to provide lawyers with broad experience across the Company suited to each lawyer’s strengths and career goals. 


  • Provide legal advice and counsel to internal clients in response to issues arising in the course of ordinary business.
  • Review and participate in negotiations and drafting of various contracts including, but not limited to, drilling contracts, rental agreements, master service agreements, master purchase agreements, purchase orders, licensing agreements, consulting agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, etc. 
  • Maintain contract management processes, supporting internal clients in their adherence to policies governing the Company’s contractual relationships, including the periodic review of company policies, processes and practices with respect to contract management to identify and implement improvements. 
  • Continuously maintain knowledge with developments in legislation that relate to the Company’s businesses located the Western Hemisphere and provide client updates and training, and propose policy changes as required. 
  • Provide regional compliance support to the Company’s business units located in the Western Hemisphere, including advice concerning anti-boycott laws, anti-bribery laws, antitrust/competition law, economic sanctions and import/export controls. 
  • Assist with the design and implementation of education and training programs for employees whose functions involve compliance with laws or standards of conduct.

  • A Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school is required, and the individual must be licensed or otherwise qualified to practice in at least one state in the United States. 
  • Must have between 3 and 5 years of legal work experience and preferably some experience in oil and gas or oil field services. 
  • Significant experience negotiating, reviewing and drafting commercial contracts. 
  • Must be a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks. 
  • Must have good PC skills to include all MS Office products. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include public speaking, and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. 
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions. 
  • Preference may be given to candidates with proficiency in Spanish.

Work Environment

This position works inside a climate-controlled environment in the corporate office of Parker Drilling Company. Parker Drilling Company will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job.
