Job Description

This position will perform monthly close processes, financial analyses and provide timely and accurate financial information. The successful candidate must have experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment and be able to perform accounting requirements with limited supervision, primarily related to operations existing outside the headquarter office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Prepare or review and process month-end, quarter-end and year-end balancing and journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or review month-end, quarter-end and year-end account analyses.
  • Reconcile, or review, assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Preparation/assist with preparation of all AFE’s, Work order and Purchase Order (PO) forms for major equipment repairs, purchases and modifications
    • Ensures the operation and effectiveness of key process (operational and financial) controls through regular review and periodic self-checks.
    • Maintaining Cost Accounting System
    • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
    • Regularly reviews accounts receivable and works diligently for timely collection
    • Provide financial summaries and periodic analysis and update forecasts and budgets; be skilled in presentation of financial results to executive management
    • Support periodic reviews by Internal and External Auditors
    • Prepare periodically required Government/statutory Reports.        
    • Exhibit friendly, positive and team-like behavior.           
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
    •  Abide by Company policies and procedures.
    •  Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, or support those with direct responsibility for the process.

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  •  Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting      standards

  • CPA is preferred.
  • Should have at least 5 years of work experience with 2-3 years of cost accounting/manufacturing experience.
  • Must be analytical and a problem solver capable of working in a team environment.    
  • Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  •  Must have good PC skills to include all MS Office products with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Oracle experience preferred
  • Must be proficient with data upload processes.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors.
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills and have the ability to follow directions.

The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull and use repetitive wrist and hand movements. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 25 pounds. Hearing, seeing ability of rapid mental coordination. It is required to be mentally alert for entire regular shift.

Work Environment

This position will typically work in a climate controlled building in the corporate office of Parker Drilling.
