Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Drilling Advisor provides an engineering and sales interface with Parker’s clients. The Sr. Drilling Engineer is responsible for the innovative, efficient and reliable design and implementation of Parker well plans. This position is responsible for innovatively moving Parker to qualify for performance contract opportunities and search for operational performance improvement.

The Senior Drilling Advisor performs engineering duties as required to optimize Parker’s drilling operations and subsequently our clients with drilling plans, conceptual and detailed designs and work programs for prospective oil and gas wells, globally. The senior Drilling Engineer supports the service delivery and sales process with technical expertise.

The Senior Drilling Advisor is involved with the design and planning of conventional and complex Wells (ERD, HP/HT, Multilaterals) and participates in tender offerings and responses. He/she follows the Drilling Engineering process and provides real time decision support to Business Development, Business Units, Engineers, and clients.
 
The Senior Drilling Advisor will help Parker mitigate the risk of shifting contract terms from a day rate to an alternative model (e.g. footage/days per section/well count).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS include the following:
(A.) PEOPLE

  • Exceptional client relations & interpersonal skills, including an advanced mix of technical, financial and operational persuasiveness.
  • Can listen to, assess and deliver Parker-friendly solutions to customers’ business needs.
  • Develops a deep understanding of Parker’s integrated management system including operational and HS&E priorities.
  • Maintains his knowledge of drilling industry, latest drilling advances & techniques as well as talent management methods.
  • Establishes reviews and appraises the performance of subordinates, consistent with performance objectives. Determines the need for additional staff training and development.


(B.) PROCESSES

  • Provides operational and technical sales support; understands and communicates value of technology and interpretations both internally and to Parker clients.
  • Provides BUs and BD with drilling improvements that reduce overall drilling time utilization and subsequently raise revenue on day rate contracts.
  • Ensures that Well Plans, Designs, and Drilling Programs comply with Parker SQ, HSE and IT standards and procedures and with customer/local laws and regulations.
  • Provides either direct or researched knowledge of reservoir specifics to impact either drilling plans or contract terms and conditions in favour of Parker Drilling.
  • Participates in personnel reviews and conducts audits, to ensure that Company policies and standards are understood and implemented by personnel under his/her supervision.
  • Ensures that all well plans are fit for purpose and provide the most cost effective solution to meet the drilling target considerations.
  • Identifies areas where new and cost effective techniques can be applied.
  • Evaluates all aspects of drilling performance and maintains database to capture and share lessons learned.
  • Provides real-time monitoring and decision support to the drilling team with the aim of improving drilling performance
  • Documents and reports all deviations from drilling program and QHSE policies to the Senior Drilling Engineer / Drilling Engineering Manager.
  • Collects and collates information to monitor performance indicators (KPIs), to measure the quality and cost effectiveness of, and benchmark Parker’s drilling performance.
  • Completes all work in an accurate, efficient and cost effective manner. 
  • Supervises the activities and work of less senior Drilling Engineer.

REPORTS TO
The Senior Drilling Advisor reports directly to the Global Business Development Leader.

Job Requirements

POSITION SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Recommended that the Senior Drilling Advisor have at least ten years’ experience with any combination of field experience, drilling operations and drilling engineering experience.
  • Learns quickly and adapts to new problems and situations.
