Job Description

Be a part of our last line of defense against sending bad wafers out of Polar!

Before each lot leaves, we need quality-oriented people to check every wafer for defects that machines or other people may have missed.  Are you one of them?  Your attention to detail and desire to document and help find systematic problems will be beneficial in this role.

As a Quality Inspector, you will conduct visual inspection of all outgoing wafers using a manual microscope and/or automated inspection tools.  You will perform self-directed work, ensuring that all lots are inspected in a timely manner, all OCAPs are completed, and all hold lots and down tools get escalated if necessary.


  1. Perform outgoing manual and/or automated inspection of wafers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  2. Follow OCAPs to determine what needs to be done with defective wafers.
  3. Accurately document inspection results with data entry and pictures.
  4. May aid in wafer testing and fabrication as needed.
  5. Support company initiatives, such as quality, safety and environmental management, CQI, 5S, yield management, and cost containment.

D Shift, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and every other Thursday, 6PM-6AM, 20% Shift Premium

Job Requirements

Ability to work independently. Ability to use a computer, and pass internal equipment/process certifications. Skill in basic math, communication, planning, prioritizing work, and manual dexterity. Knowledge typically gained through on-the-job training, inspection and fabrication experience helpful.


Requires walking and standing on cleanroom floors for prolonged periods. Sitting at a microscope for prolonged periods. Using your eyes for detailed inspection for prolonged periods. Working in a cleanroom environment and wearing clean room attire (bunny suit, mask, gloves, protective eye wear and booties).

Lift/carry/push/pull/ up to 10 pounds on a frequent and daily basis. Overhead reach and extended reach up to 10 pounds on a frequent and daily basis. Visual acuity. Ability to perform all wafer handling functions (i.e.: load, unload, transfer, transport, etc.). Manual dexterity to operate hand held devices such as; keyboard, keypad, mouse/trackball, scanner and wand. Ability to perform two handed cassette/wafer handling including two handed grip and grasp, on a frequent to continuous and daily basis. Ability to perform physical requirements throughout the course of 12 hour shifts.
