KING 5 in Seattle, Washington is seeking a cutting-edge Executive Producer to help lead a team of talented journalists. If you’re a competitive, creative, experienced Executive Producer, with a real grasp on what news viewers need and want – KING 5 wants you to join its award-winning team.

Responsibilities

We describe our Morning EP like a Morning News Director, leading our 2 ½ hour KING Morning Show and our 2 hour KONG Morning Show

The Morning Executive Producer:

  • Manages a large staff of multi-skilled journalists, producers, writers, photographers, and the assignment desk.
  • Must focus on planning, which is a key strength in our daily and long term coverage
  • Coordinates live event coverage, breaking news, and long-term projects.
  • Should thrive on being creative with our new studio, integrating the Surface Hub, touch screen technology, the steady cam, and creative graphics.
  • Consistently integrates social media audience engagement in the shows and user generated content.
  • Works closely with news management and marketing to promote the morning news and coordinate topical production.
  • Must have the vision to evolve the morning news mission with a competitive edge to grow the audience.
  • Participates in daily post-mortem meetings for KING & KONG which involves critiquing that day’s shows.
  • Coordinates regularly with the News Director on short and long-term strategies.
  • Collaborates with other TEGNA managers on morning show projects.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • College degree with minimum five years’ previous news management experience preferred.
  • Must be a great communicator and a strong leader.
  • Excellent organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills.
  • Must possess solid news judgment and be able to work calmly under deadline pressures.
  • ENPS, Axis graphics, and Vertigo experience is desired.
