Summary Description: 

Westmoreland Coal is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst that will be responsible for the support and development of systems, processes, and technologies for the modeling of and reporting on Business Data throughout the company. This position requires technical and functional skills, and the ability to build strong relationships that will help deliver value for the organization. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual that has the technical proficiency to recommend, develop and deliver quality solutions across the enterprise. This job will require experience in working in a fast paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to create and implement industry leading solutions
  • Creating technical specifications and architectural designs for Microsoft Tabular Models
  • Designing database queries, views, procedures, and functions for reporting and data analytics using MS SQL Server
  • Develop and maintain Tabular Models and Multidimensional SSAS employing Version Control with Visual Studio Team Services
  • Develop and maintain Excel/VBA reporting solutions in conjunction with Tabular Models
  • Recommend, design and maintain Dashboard solution and Mobile analytics platform

Job Requirements

Competencies:

Demonstrates Technical proficiency in the following areas:

  • Microsoft Analysis Services, SSAS, Tabular Models, Visual Studio
  • Database development (expert level at querying with SQL)
  • Excel (PowerPivot, PowerView, PowerBI) and VBA
  • JD Edwards, SharePoint and SAP Business Objects (WEBI, Data Services and Universe Design) (an asset)

Demonstrates experience and proficiency in the following soft skills:

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Intermediate level with 3 to 5 years of experience in Business Intelligence and DB Development
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science or a related discipline
  • Microsoft MCP/MCSE certification is a plus but not required
