Summary Description: 

Westmoreland Coal Company seeks an experienced Systems Cybersecurity & Security Analyst. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with analyzing and assessing vulnerabilities in software, hardware and network infrastructure.  The ideal candidate will be involved in day-to-day security management of network security hardware and software. In addition, this role will work with the Information Technology (IT) department and the Cybersecurity Oversight Team to evaluate and implement processes and tools to help prevent against hacker attacks and malicious and unintentional security breaches. Also, this role will be responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting security, audit and IT governance projects and standardization across the company. They will partner and liaison with Internal and External Audit to help streamline the IT audits.  They will proactively ensure that internal systems are secure and are being monitored, effectively managed, and performing at peak efficiency.

Job Duties:

  • Analyzing and assessing vulnerabilities in the infrastructure (software, hardware, networks)
  • Investigating available tools and countermeasures to resolve detected vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshooting server and network security-related issues
  • Designing, implementing and testing compliant network security systems and solutions
  • Maintaining security infrastructures
  • Drafting technical documentation and security guidelines
  • Collaborating with management, staff, department heads and external partners or regulators
  • Complying with federal and state laws, regulations and directives
  • Developing business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Monitoring systems security and responding to security incidents
  • Assisting in Preventing and detecting intrusion
  • Performing Security Incident containment and remediation recommendations
  • Conducting log file analysis

Job Requirements

Competencies:

  • Understanding of network operations and protocols
  • Working knowledge of boundary protection devices, including firewalls and IPS/IDS devices
  • Understanding of security operations and detection, network traffic analysis, cyber threat, log aggregation and SIEM tools

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science or a related discipline 
  • 5 years of security experience, industry certifications or both. Preference on professional certification, such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation
