Job Description

Location: Fayetteville, NC

Part-time Volunteer Coordinator.

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing, and training applicants to fill all volunteer needs of hospice patients at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Identifying retention issues and developing plans to improve retention and to make use of volunteers.

Maintains a cooperative and productive relationship with all staff, taking the initiative to confront
and resolve problems when they occur and offering assistance when needed.

Assesses current volunteer needs and plans for anticipated future needs and reach a 5% in volunteer hours required by Hospice Regulations. Recruits prospective volunteers, screens applications, interviews, drug screens and trains qualified candidates.

Prepares recruitment advertising for newspapers, the internet, and makes recommendations and
placement based upon need.

Participates in the organization of volunteer recognition events and activities.

Maintains a pool of volunteers by contacting community colleges, universities, civic
groups, churches and community organizations. Including presenting regularly to church
congregations and groups. (At a minimum of 4 presentations per month).

Maintains contact with CCHH hospice social worker to ensure patients' volunteer needs are

Independently designs recruiting strategies for finding volunteers in difficult to fill needs.

Maintains an updated vacancy/ recruitment report.

Evaluates turnover and exit interview data to identify retention issues.

Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and agency information.
Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, and Agency meetings as assigned to build
volunteer base.

Prepares and updates sections of the Volunteer Coordinator Procedure Manual, which affect
position and responsibility.

Responds appropriately and promptly to specific projects requested by Recruiter/ Retention

Ensures that the Recruiter/ Retention Coordinator is kept informed of problems and progress in
the department.

Coordinates volunteer orientation and completes initial volunteer information to the Employment Coordinator.

Types, files, and distributes correspondence and other written material.

Adheres to the Agency's Personnel Policy and Compliance Plan.

Willingly performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Displays a high degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the agency in all
contact with staff, patients, and visitors.


Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience in recruiting and interviewing.
Strong verbal and written skills.
Ability to deal pleasantly with staff and public.
Ability to work without close supervision.
