Strategic Account Manager Life Science Europe

 

Summary 

The purpose of the role is to grow existing and to gain new customers in the Life Science arena. He/she will coordinate with the product group in order to drive area sales in Europe. The SAM Life Science Europe manages and maximizes revenues from the assigned account through a combination of world class account management, business development, and consultative selling. 

Responsibilities 

  • Strategic selling to new customers. Building a broader and deeper pipeline.
  • Develop, design, implement, communicate and maintain a dedicated Life Science commercial plan in line with the Global life Science strategy. The first year focus areas are:
  • Develop new, manage and grow existing Life Science accounts in the region, utilizing consultative selling techniques to customize services in complex, multiple-level decision making environments to actively increase revenue and profit in the Life Science vertical, in the region.
  • Responsible for supporting local/regional sales team (Business Development Managers).
  • Build an active pipeline through strategic initiatives and sales engagement.
  • Effectively interact with (regional) Quality managers, Branch managers, HR managers and other stakeholders.
  • Drive a client engagement strategy through a) Virtual network of account managers in multiple regions and levels and b) Executive sponsors and the appropriate use of other company resources.
  • Adhere to company processes and procedures, and utilizes the CRM and other tools to document customer interaction, needs, and business projections.
  • Establish and maintain long-term strategic relationships that typically go beyond the sale of a single point solution.
  • Effectively navigates the customer’s political and hierarchical structure, establishing himself or herself as a trusted advisor at multiple levels, up to officer level.
  • Contribute to the planning process for the integration of Global accounts. Ensure and oversee the development of Service Level Agreement (SLAs), Statements of Work (SOWs) and Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) as applicable.
  • Take responsibility for on boarding of new business, using on boarding resources made available through the region or enterprise.
  • Construct and convey plausible financial plans, and provide accurate forecasting data.
  • Develop tools for performance monitoring and provide feedback to the network and obtain agreement on corrective actions as required

Requisitos del puesto

Requirements 

  • 10+ years of sales experience in the freight forwarding/logistics industry required, specifically in the area of Life Science logistics
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong knowledge of all products including supply chain solutions, freight forwarding (air, ocean, road) and contract logistics.
  • Previous experience in managerial positions in an international environment in the pharmaceutical supply chain
  • Extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and relevant regulatory directives and guidelines – GDP / GMP / ISO 9001 etc. and their importance/application to the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of domestic and / or international pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chain needs
  • Experience with writing professional sales proposals and standard operating procedures
  • Experience with managing and driving a sales team to increase business
  • Good business acumen and commercial skills.
  • Excellent Sales and Negotiation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Team player with ability to work with cross-functional teams and all levels of management
  • Ability to work under time and quota pressures
  • Polished verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to train and instruct others on how to perform tasks
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrates commitment and results-orientation, strives to maximize account performance and achieve growth targets
  • Proficient in CRM, Microsoft Office applications and other technical software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as in at least another European language
  • Travel is required at approximately 40% on European and International level.
