Strauss Allergy & Asthma, a division of Allied Physicians Group, is an allergy, immunology, and pulmonary practice based in Westbury and Commack, New York.  Our allergists and immunologists are trained to treat, diagnose, and manage asthma and allergies, whether they are related to or caused by foods, medicines or topical substances.

Strauss Allergy & Asthma is looking for a Medical Assistant to enhance their team!

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients and family members before, during, and after a visit at our practice. We treat patients of all ages at Strauss Allergy and Asthma. Successful candidates for the Medical Assistant role will deliver quality patient care and maintain established quality control standards. Someone with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is a good fit for this healthcare role.

This practice has two offices – Westbury and Commack.  You will be asked to be available to work in both our Westbury and Commack offices. Additional hours for training will be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Rooms patients according to company standards
  • Records patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policies
  • Processes appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion
  • Respects patient confidentiality at all times
  • Preparing, restocking, and disinfecting examination rooms, lab area, and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals as needed.
  • Representing the practice in a professional manner and treating all patients and fellow employees in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Attending required meetings and participating in team activities and professional development activities.
  • Answering phones, scheduling appointments and scanning documents.
  • Assisting in patient testing. 
  • Ability to speak additional language(s) a plus.
  • Must be able to work in both of our offices- Westbury and Commack.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:


  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required


  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • EMR experience (GE Centricity) preferred 


  • Current professional certification as a Medical Assistant or eligible for certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Pay Rate: Negotiable, Dependent Upon Experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Medical office that is both physically and emotionally demanding
  • Standing or stooping for long periods of time.
  • Mild physical labor to complete the tasks at hand.
  • Potential exposure to blood, chemicals, and other bodily fluids.
