Job Description

The Medical Biller requires experience in all aspects of medical billing, collections and payment posting, including, but not limited to, charge entry, verification of benefits, payer inquiries and follow up, denials, task queues, and answering patient inquiries. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and will be able to adapt to change, multi-task, and meet deadlines, while remaining organized.

Job responsibilities: 

  • Review and prepare claims for electronic billing submission
  • Investigate denied claims
  • Identify and correct billing errors and resubmit claims to insurance carriers
  • Review remittance advice for payment errors, denials, and under payments
  • Answer patient calls and answer billing questions as needed
  • Collect outstanding patient balances and set up payment plans for patients
  • Follow up with patients in regard to owed balances
  • Post payments to appropriate patients' accounts

 Skills & Qualifications:

  • Uses customer service skills to work effectively with patients and insurance representatives
  • High level of organization
  • Attentive to detail
  • Experience with modifiers

Education:

  • Knowledge of CPT andICD-10
  • CCS-P or CPC certification a plus

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience medical billing
  • Pediatric or Primary Care Billing Experience preferred
  • Experience with GE Centricity is preferred but not required.
