Nassau Pediatric Associates, a division of Allied Physicians Group, has been in practice since 1953 providing top quality medical care to the children of their community and beyond.  We are proudly affiliated with Cohen’s Children’s Hospital at LIJ in New Hyde Park, Winthrop Children’s Medical Center in Mineola and North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset.

Nassau Pediatric Associates is looking for a Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant to enhance their team!

This dynamic role is a hybrid of Medical Reception job duties with Medical Assistant responsibilities.  Preferred candidates will be able to manage an administrative workload while also supporting the medical staff as needed.

This is a part-time role working twenty-eight (28) hours each week.  This position requires attention to detail while maintaining a welcoming presence for patients, parents and other visitors. Flexibility, professional appearance, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are crucial for this role.

The weekly schedule is as follows:

Monday 8:30am – 5:30pm

Tuesday – Off

Wednesday 8:30am – 5:30pm

Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm

Friday – Off

Saturday 8:30am – 12:30pm

Sunday - Off

Position Responsibilities:

  • Greeting patients and visitors
  • Answering telephones in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Scheduling appointments for patients
  • Collecting copays or balance due
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, computer knowledge
  • Must be personable, organized and reliable
  • Must like children and have a pleasant demeanor with children
  • Multilingual (Spanish primarily) speaking a PLUS
  • Rooms patients according to company standards.
  • Records patient care documentation in EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policies.
  • Conducting blood work, throat swabs, capillary stick and venipuncture's
  • Running the blood, stool, urine, etc.
  • Processes appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion.
  • Respects patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Preparing, restocking, and disinfecting examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area, and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals and as needed.
  • Representing practice in a professional manner and treating all customers and fellow employees in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Attending required meetings and participating in team activities and professional development activities.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year in a medical office, pediatric experience a PLUS
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge of EMR is required. Experience with GE Centricity preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medical office that is both physically and emotionally demanding
  • Standing or stooping for long periods of time.
  • Mild physical labor to complete the tasks at hand.
  • Exposure to blood, chemicals, and other bodily fluids.
  • Possible heavy lifting (infants, toddlers, children)
  • Other physical demands that coincide with the duties of a laboratory professional.
