Job Description

Portescap has experienced significant growth in the recent years, and in return has invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment used to run a climate-controlled machine shop. The CNC machines are multi-axis with sub spindles and live tooling which helps machinists produce precision parts with tight tolerances. Portescap's shop is revered as elite by many professionals for holding the tight tolerances which are maintained.

The CNC Setup Machinist will work on various CNC machinery in our manufacturing facility, setting up and operating, as needed. In this role, they will focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.

This role will be joining the Portescap team in West Chester, PA.  Portescap is part of Altra (AIMC).

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate 2 axis lathes and multi-axis mills
  • Grind and fabricate specialty tooling as required
  • Sharpen tools as required
  • Help troubleshoot machines as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Strong math skills including geometry
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to use various inspection equipment including height stands, micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, prints
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrate good troubleshooting and problem solving techniques
  • Two year machine tool diploma or degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Ability to edit, download and upload programs (preferred)
  • Experience with Swiss Machines (preferred)
  • Experience hobbing and milling (preferred)

Physical Requirements
Standing -- 8 hours a day
Lifting -- no more than 50 lbs

Shifts Available
2nd Shift, Monday to Friday, 3:30pm – 12:00am
